Since many Alberta school systems continue cutting resources , especially for students with special learning needs, there are now VERY limited resources to support the complex needs of many students in a preventative, proactive way .Early intervention is KEY, and Dr. Brenda E. Abbey believes parents are first educators - when the brain is developing !!
***An exciting NEW research - based approach to visual- motor and spatial orientation challenges
called RHYTHMIC WRITING is being offered by Dr. Brenda E. Abbey to help children with fine motor, spatial problems and written production delays and difficulties. This approach alters and creates new neural pathways in the brain to change the networks and solve the writing problems.
Dr. Brenda E. Abbey believes in a GROWTH MINDSET rather than a FIXED MINDSET. By supporting parents in understanding their child's EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING , Dr. Abbey believes parents to be an integral facilitator in their child's learning journey and academic performance.
As a certified K to 12 and Special Education teacher who also holds a Doctorate in Cognitive Educational Psychology , her specialty has always been in accurately assessing a student's Learning and achievement profile { both strengths and areas of need} and developing engaging , achievable programming materials and strategies .
Her expertise in Curriculum Design and Development is an asset to Parents who want assistance in reducing their child's frustration and improving organization skills and their child's achievement in certain Academic areas of their child's HOME SCHOOLING learning program.
